A night with Hj Saeed

Alhamdulillah, on the 11th January of 2011, it was a great session that night. We got together, discussed and shared ideas in how to improved our influences and make dakwah more better than before.

Its not easy for a foreigner or an outsider to adopt to our culture and go through with it but for Hj Saeed Mohamed Mohamud Abdalla, The President of International Student Society (ISS), it was different. Its not about culture or race or countries but its about faith. When it comes to that, the feel of responsibilities to advise and share is a must even though we are from totally different backgrounds.

For the sharing session that night, Hj Saeed purposely asked 'Asim 'Abdullah bin Ainullotfi, The President of Kelab Iqra' for the 2011 session, to do a sharing with the Iqra' members so that he can share ideas and help Iqra' in moving forward and to bring dakwah in UTM further more so that more and more student's heart can be touched by Allah's hidayah through Iqra'.

It was just a short session that lasted about an hour and a half but it was full of nasihah and ideas.

Hj Saeed reminded us about the concept of Islam and how to see it in a 'tree' point of view. He stated that the Aqidah is the roots of a tree. Analogicly, the root shows the origin of the tree. Same goes with Islam, it starts with Iman, the belief in one God only, which is Allah SWT. He then goes to each analogy of the tree from the trunk to the leaf as to the faraid, akhlak, syaksiah, the sunnah and all daily matters which conclude life itself.

He also reminded us about the importance of keeping our soul fit. How we must keep our rawatib, our zikr, our solat in order to defend ourself against Syaitan that is always there to misguide us and lead us to HELL with them.

After quite a long tazkirah from him, he started to share some experience of his during his undergraduate in Sudan. How he established and managed an Islamic Student Society and tried to engage with students from various background in order to spread the words of Allah.

He then also reminded us that in UTM, he usually see the 'kopiah' group is always with the kopiah group, the full waered hijjab (tudung labuh) with their group, the Iqra' with the Iqra', the PMI with the PMI and he questioned us, 'how can Islam be spread if we are like this from the beginning til now?' He mentioned to us that there is no discrimination in Islam and we must mixed and talk with everyone in order to spread Islam provided we do not be influenced by them. It was something for us to ponder. Yes, without doubt, amongs us, there is a situation like that and insya Allah, we will try to improve and learn from our mistakes.

He then gave ideas on how to expand Iqra' influence to the entire UTm such as Book fair (Ummat Iqra'), Musabaqah Al-Quran, Konvensyen Iqra' (about the Quran), try to put at least one huffaz Al-quran in each college so they can guide others. He also mentioned that sometimes, with a lot of activities and programmes that can be mobilesed for the sake of dakwah, monetery is important. He gave a ideas on how to generate income and not be too dependent on HEMA for money. Alhamdulillah, many ideas seems to be within our grasp. We took a lot of ideas that can be implemented in Iqra's activities and future developement.

Lastly for that night's sharing session, we did a little ta'aruf amongs the members that attended and Q&A session with him. The session ended around 11.15pm with the President of Iqra' sending Hj Saeed to Taman Universiti for an urgent meeting with his friend there.

"How many members have you got? Iqra? 100? 200? PMI? 400? 500? We have 18000 students here. Are your numbers are not even up to 1% of the whole student."

    Hmm..sangat mendalam maksud dia.
    -.-

  4. hmm...betul jugak tuh.

Lepas dah hidup, apa lagi, kena la praktik pula. Dakwah bil hal.

Jazakillah khair kepada saudari Atikah kerana sudi memberikan pandangan.
